The 10th Annual Regent Park Film Festival - Call For Submission 2012

DEADLINE EXTENDED!

Regent Park Film Festival is Toronto's ONLY free-of-charge, multi-cultural, film festival dedicated to bringing the best local and international film and video works to the communities living in and around the neighbourhood of Regent Park in Toronto, Canada.

Regent Park is the oldest and largest, public housing project in Canada. It is home to a diverse group of communities, prominently including new immigrants and Indigenous peoples. Regent Park is currently undergoing a long-term revitalization, where mixed income housing is being introduced into the community. The stories we celebrate resonate with the inner city, community-driven, trans-national, transient context of Regent Park, as well as with other communities in Toronto, across Canada and all over the world. We encourage submissions from Regent Park and invite submissions from all over Canada and Internationally.

The Regent Park Film Festival is in its 10th year of connecting community and film to present a unique festival experience for audiences and filmmakers alike. All activities at the Regent Park Film Festival are free-of-charge; we provide free childcare and pay artist fees.

We invite films for the following categories:

SCHOOL PROGRAM: Features works suitable for or Grade 1-8, featuring themes relevant and engaging for youth

GENERAL PROGRAM: Features works by filmmakers from a multi-cultural and/or Aboriginal backgrounds and/or films that explore difference and solidarity, im/migrant experiences, urbanization, cultural identity and resonate with the inner city, community based, trans-national and transient realities of Regent Park and similar communities in Toronto, in Canada, and all over the world.

YOUTH PROGRAM: Features work by youth ages 26 for the "Community Stories", our youth media arts program, that encourages self-representation and seeks to promote dialogue within the community, as well as among the guest youth filmmakers from Regent Park and other parts of the world.

"WE ARE HERE" - CELEBRATING HOME PROGRAM: Features critical and engaging works that explore and celebrate the concept of home and community. (This program is a special program for 2012, celebrating the festival's return to Regent Park into its own home at the Regent Park Arts and Cultural Centre, after 4 years working from a satellite space in Toronto)
