We’re hiring: Festival Manager

Overview:
The Festival Manager oversees logistics and operations on a year-round basis at the Regent Park Film Festival, while also managing the organization’s outreach and communication needs.

Terms of Contract:
Position: Full time, Contract. Benefits included. Immediate start date, to December 31, 2014.
Salary: Commensurate with Experience
Schedule: Weekdays, with some evenings and weekends
Reports to: Executive Director

Responsibilities:
Operations and Logistics

  • Work closely with Executive Director to manage logistics for community screenings, events, annual fundraising screening and festival
  • Work closely with Executive Director to develop festival and year-round critical path
  • Lead staff in ensuring the maintenance of the database systems, and coordinate volunteers to update database as needed
  • Take part in programming considerations as needed for generating ideas for communication and outreach
  • Assist in stewarding special guests and managing volunteers during the festival

Community Outreach

  • Develop and implement strategic community outreach initiatives and activities on a year-round basis
  • Build and steward positive and engaging community partner relations with relevant community organizations and other local events to widen audience exposure and increase community profile
    • Reach out to community organizations to secure local audiences for the annual festival
  • Represent the Festival at relevant meetings and events in Regent Park and Toronto

Communications/Marketing Materials

  • Work closely with Program Director to manage and update content for website, e-newsletter and social media
  • Liaise with designer and website developer and project manage print and digital marketing material production for the annual festival
  • Project manage relationship with PR company
  • Assist Executive Director in coordinating and facilitating the work of the Communications Committee

Facility Management (Micro Space)

  • Respond to and confirming booking requests
  • Manage booking schedule
  • Prepare and send invoices and agreements
  • Manage maintenance of the facility space
  • Publicize the facility through community outreach with the objective of securing additional bookings

Fundraising

  • Assist Executive Director in researching prospective funders and putting together funding proposals

Admin

  • Recruit and manage office interns and volunteers
  • Train the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Manage Festival’s info email account
  • Assist in maintaining regular administrative monthly duties around the office

Skills Required:

  • Experience working in a festival environment
  • Familiarity with the not-for-profit arts sector
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organized, able to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Computer literacy (word processing, excel, email, web)
  • Knowledge and familiarity with inner city issues and context
  • An appreciation for the intersections of community building, urban development and professional arts
  • Strong problem solving skills, ability to take initiative, and work well in a team

 The following will be considered assets:

  • Familiarity In living or working in Regent Park, or similar inner city communities
