Regent Park Film Festival is a non-profit community film festival dedicated to showcasing independent works relevant to residents of the largest and oldest public housing in Canada. Regent Park is an area in transition, largely populated by new immigrants. The films we present, free-of-charge, are made locally, nationally and internationally, and reflect some of our key themes: immigration, inner city issues, cultural identity and multicultural relationships.
Regent Park residents are encouraged to create media works, through our free professional media arts training workshops, and engage in debates through our panel discussions. Annually, films made by Regent Park residents are highlighted in our Community Stories: Youth Media Program on Opening Night and during our Family Program, supporting self-representation and creating dialogue with guest youth filmmakers from other parts of the World. We also offer year-round community screenings through our Free Monthly Film Club at the Toronto Public Library, Parliament Branch and through community co-presentation partnerships.
