Live It to Learn It – Week 1 on set of Kim’s Convenience Season 2

August 16, 2017 by Regent Park Film Festival

Our Live It To Learn It interns have all started their work on some of Toronto’s most exciting TV sets: Kim’s Convenience, Murdoch Mysteries and Frankie Drake Mysteries. They’ll be spending time behind the scenes, learning the tricks of the trade.

This week we caught up with Baker Albach who filled us in on what life is like on the set of Season 2 of Kim’s Convenience.

Here’s what Baker shared with us after day three on set:

“I’ve had the pleasure of meeting people from the cast, I got to meet Paul Sun-Hyung Lee who plays Appa, Jean Yoon who plays Umma and I got to meet a few other cast members that will be showing up in season 2.”

When we asked for more insider information – “I can’t talk about it, you’ll have to wait and see – exciting stuff though.”

“At PS Production Services they mostly rent lighting equipment. In this picture there are a bunch of tube lights that they use and I got to learned about how light is used to create moods. They were nice enough to go into great detail, they seem very passionate about what they do.”

“There are also these giant light bulbs that give off a brilliant blue light that I got to see in action on set – it legit looks like day light indoors, it makes it look like theres a skylight somewhere it’s so cool.”

“This is Pip. On day one I was able to hang out with him a bit, but since then I’ve been keeping busy. Whenever I can I try to stop and pet him.”

We’re looking forward to catching up with Baker and the other Live It To Learn It Interns as they continue their work behind the scenes.
