Greetings Members, Supporters, and Friends,
My name is Tendisai Cromwell, and I am honoured to serve as the next Executive Director of the Regent Park Film Festival.
On a warm summer day, not unlike this one, I sat right here. And soon after the sun set, I—and hundreds of others—watched a movie under an open sky as part of the Regent Park Film Festival’s Under the Stars screening series.
And now, I have joined the RPFF family just as we’re ready to launch our 5th summer series, the same one that I experienced some years back. I recall the sense of community that this event fostered, followed by the annual film festival.
I will bring together my strengths as an arts administrator, media maker, writer, and entrepreneur to carry out the community-focused vision of RPFF. And I view the role of executive director as one of leadership through service, where I can continue the community-based work that’s at the heart of my media arts practice.
I wish to extend gratitude to my predecessor Ananya Ohiri who served as Executive Director for the better half of a decade. And who, along with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, led RPFF through a period of growth and transformation. This is at a time when the Regent Park community itself is undergoing immense change.
I look forward to meeting you at Under the Stars beginning July 11, at our 16th annual film festival in November, or at any number of events and programs that we hold throughout the year.
I’m deeply grateful for your continued support of the Regent Park Film Festival, and I hope to see you soon.
