Unarmed Verses

Francine Valentine, an astute and luminous 12-year old, is a resident of Villaways, a community in Toronto that faces imposed relocation. Her poignant observations about life, the soul, and the power of art give voice to those rarely heard in society. Unarmed Verses is a cinematic rendering of our universal need for self-expression, belonging and home.

Unarmed Verses premiered at HotDocs this year to great critical acclaim  and took home the award for Best Canadian Feature Documentary. It has gone on to win Best Canadian Documentary at the Vancouver International Film Festival (2017) and was the Official Selection EBS International Documentary Festival (2017).
