The Interrupters

Ameena, Cobe and Eddie, three individuals who share a violent past, fight their own inner demons, while acting as violence interrupters in their Chicago community. Armed with only their personal credibility and experience, these fearless people treat violence as an infectious disease and stop it before it can spread. The Interrupters shows us how, through the efforts of committed individuals, there’s still a chance to stop violence by breaking it up one fight at a time.

The Regent Park Film Festival presents this film to create an opportunity to discuss, highlight and engage with violence prevention strategies in Toronto. Panel will be moderated by Olu Quamina (Executive Director of Concrete Roses), with participation of:

Cobe Williams (an Interrupter)

Patrick Lile (co-Producer of the Interrupters)

and

Scott Mckean (City of Toronto, Supervisor of Community Development),

Kenneth Slater – Dixon Hall (Community Engagement Worker),

Paul Green (Teacher and community activist),

Donna Harrow (Executive Director, Alexander Park Community Centre)
