Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art developed in the 1500s by African and Indigenous slaves in Brazil as a form of self-defence from their oppressors. In short, Capoeira is a combination of martial arts, acrobatics, dance, music and culture. Present in 28 countries, Grupo Axé Capoeira is today one of the worlds largest Capoeira organizations.
