For 10-year-old Monica, every day is the same. She wakes up early in her rural Kenyan village, walks miles to collect water for her family, then walks miles more to go to school. When she gets home, Monica spends a few hours collecting firewood so her family can cook dinner. After her household chores are finished, she treks into town to find the nearest light source so she can do her homework and study because her home doesn’t have electricity or running water.
