A Stray

Set in the largest public housing project in Minneapolis, A Stray follows a young Somali Muslim refugee as he gets kicked out of his mother’s home. Through a series of misfortunes, Adan is both welcomed and rejected by his friends, community and local mosque. An unexpected friendship with a stray dog brings him back to the streets, where he is pressured to accept odd jobs. A Stray features a superb Somali cast, and foregrounds the struggles of young newcomers of colour.
